DAR1041
Dominion Atlantic Railway Steam Locomotive No. 1041.
Built by the Montreal Locomotive Works (MLW) in December of 1912, No. 1041 arrived on the DAR in May 1937[1], one of the first batch of four D10s to arrive in Nova Scotia, along with No. 1018, No. 999 and No. 1090. The smokebox was painted silver about 1938 while still lettered for the CPR.[2] and the locomotive received a DAR herald and lettering sometime during the Second World War but does not appear to have ever received a name plate. Officially listed as a D.A.R. unit from 1938 to 1952[3], it operated in Nova Scotia until it was damaged in a wreck at Windsor in October 1949 when it was returned to Montreal and replaced on the DAR by No. 1077.[4]
