Dominion Atlantic Railway Steam Locomotive No. 557 "Subercase"

Wheel Arrangement: 4-6-0

Built by Sashsische Maschinenbau A.G., Chemnitz, Germany (Saxon Locomotive Machine Works) in February 1904.

  • 63' 3" overall pilot to tender coupler
  • CPR Class:

Built as CPR No. 557, it arrived on the DAR by 1929(1) and was given the name "Subercase". It was scrapped in July 1937(2), passing the name "Subercase" to the G2r Pacific locomotive No. 2511.

Name Origin: Daniel Auger de Subercase, last governor of Acadia who defeated two attacks on Port Royal before finally surrendering the colony in 1710.(3)
