Heckman's Canadian Pacific: A Photographic Journey
Heckman's Canadian Pacific: A Photographic Journey
by Ralph Beaumount, self published, 2010
A look at the comprehensive photography of the Canadian Pacific Railway across Canada by photographer Joseph Heckman between 1898 and 1915. The book includes seven rare and high-quality photographs of DAR station and bridges taken in Sept. and Oct. 1910. Heckman is believed to have been assigned the CPR to document the DAR to assist in negotiating its takeover of the line in 1912. The published photographs are taken from Heckman's Collection of 118 negatives of the DAR in two DAR albums that he produced for the CPR.
DAR photographs in the book include: the Lawrencetown Station (p.31), Yarmouth Station (WCR p.287), Digby Station (WCR p.288), Annapolis Royal Stations (Frogmore (p.289) and Wharfside (p.291)), South Maitland Station (p.290) and the Sissiboo River Bridge (p.286) and Avon River Bridge (p.291).
