Dominion Atlantic Railway Steam Locomotive No. 35 "Gabriel"

Built by Canadian Locomotive Works at Kingston, Ontario in March 1892.

• 18" x 24" cylinders
• 62" drivers.
• 47' 9" wheelbase length
• CPR Class: C1B

This locomotive was delivered to the Canadian Pacific Railway as CPR No. 605. It was renumbered as CPR No. 319 in 1906.

It was purchased by the DAR in October 1911 and took the name "Gabriel", earlier used by DAR No. 13. It was scrapped in July 1923 in Kentville.

The history of the Kingston Locomotive Works indicates that it had 57" drivers, but The Jim O'Donnell list and Omer Lavallée list say 62" drivers.

Name Origin: Gabriel was the lover of the heroine Evangeline in Longfellow's epic poem Evangeline. The name was earlier used by DAR locomotive No.13.
