Aylesford Water Tower
Aylesford Water Tower
Mile 17.5 across from the Aylesford Station on the south side of the tracks. Originally a square water tank, the Aylesford water tank saved the village in the 1920s when it provided a vital water source to stop a large fire sweeping the village. It was replaced in 1926 by a 20,000 gallon enclosed octagonal tank. It lasted until the end of steam but was demolished in the early 1960s. The tower's concrete footings remain.
