Kentville Ice House

The DAR operated a "secondary icing" facility in Kentville to re-ice certain classes of refrigerated cars in season.(1) The first version was a one story wooden shed. In the 1930s, it was replaced by a larger structure, approximately 25 feet by 40 feet, differing from standard CPR ice houses as it was built of brick tile instead of wood.(2) It was in use at least until 1958.(3) In the 1960s, it was converted into storage.
