Next Station: Kingsport
Pereau was the scene of a tragic level crossing accident on July 11, 1935. A speeding 1928 Pontiac was hit by locomotive No. 39 pulling Train No. 14. Two passengers in the automobile were killed and two others seriously injured. The injured were taken to Kentville by the train. The subsequent investigation blamed careless driving by the unlicensed driver. Bushes and trees of niegbouring properties were also cut back to improve crossing visibility.
