The spur remained in use to serve several large feed mills that operated at the location. The [[Canard River Bridge]] and old shelter station were abandoned at this time so the Mill Village station was shifted several hundred feet south from the old shelter station to the feed mills when the spur was created thus changing the mileage. History
Officially known as Mill Village on railway timetables, the station was more commonly called "Steam Mill" or "Steam Mill Village" after an early local steam sawmill. After the tracks to Kingsport were abandoned in 1961, Mill Village became the terminus for the spur that remained of the Kingsport Subdivision known as Spur Track D Kingsport. The spur remained in use to serve several large feed mills that operated at the location. The Canard River Bridge and old shelter station were abandoned at this time so the Mill Village station was shifted several hundred feet south from the old shelter station to the feed mills when the spur was created thus changing the mileage.
