MLW RS18u

In 1981, RS-18 Nos. 8729 to 8800 were rebuilt as the 1800 series with chopped hoods, a new cab design to take advantage of the chopped hood and a new electrical system to finish it off. (1)

Three of these locomotives were assigned to the DAR to haul 10 car ballast trains in 1985 and 1986. (1) Photographic evidence shows that the units were used in freight service as well.

This category is not so much to contain a history or detailed description, unless it is exclusive to the D.A.R., but to allow locomotives to be further sorted by categories for easier comparison and study.
