A converted ex-baggage car (1), it was originally Baggage Car No. 55, built in 1897 at [[:Category:Rhodes, Curry & Co.|Rhodes Curry]] in Amherst, a sister car to [[DAR000054|baggage cars No. 54]] and [[DAR000099|No. 56]]. It was converted to a van and re-numbered 97 in December 1911.(2) No. 97 was often used on the rear end of [[Train No. 99]] & [[Train No. 100]], night train with sleeper, coach or freight cars.
