Hi Brian,

Could you ask your son what it means on the website when we see "Mug Personalization", is that printing our design on the mug or something else (could be an individual's name printed on one mug, not sure).

I definitely prefer a "C" handle. Lets do that that other cup for sure then rather than the Titan as long as the price is the same.

It's got to be Maroon too. Just wouldn't be right if it was any other colour. As for the printing either a gold or a faux gold but that was the original herald colour so we need to get as close to the original herald feeling as we can to make this work.

A price break would be appreciated of course. The $4.50 printing charge for each mug is pretty significant.

We need printing on both side because one side will have the attached logo and the other will have the name of the museum.

So I'm part way through cleaning up and reconstructing this logo off the tender. Looks pretty good to me so far. What do you guys think?

Hope to have the artwork done tomorrow. We now need to confirm the printing for the other side of the cup. Just the name of the museum or more info? Here is a list of maroon mugs on the Daquin website. Under word search enter "mug" and then under "product/catalogue selection", enter the following sets of numbers followed by "search now" button, one search at a time. 611, 775, 185, 175, 195, 355 and 2775. The prices on these items start at $1.95 and go to$3.67 each in lots of 72-143. Some have the option of gold rims at extra cost. Not sure what the dif' between cap bands and halos is. They also state a one time fee of $40 for screen charge or $75 for deep etching. Remember these prices are not set in stone.Brian

The logo looks good Steve. Where did you find that one?

Maroon or black would be fine with me. I'm just glad to see my idea has taken off!

The logo came right off the side of tender No. 1046:

It's going to happen soon one way or the other.

The black and white image you were cleaning up ( my son will clean it up if we decide to go with that image). Is that the image we want to go with or the one shown on the sample cup ( the LAND OF EVANGELINE ROUTE printing needs some spacing adjustments, this is just to give you an idea of what the image would look like)? If we use the black and white image are we going to convert to gold or yellow to use on the maroon mug? How many mugs do we need to order? Has anyone looked at the mugs I listed previously? Once we pick a style I can get a quote on the price. Brian

This looks like what I visualized it would be like. Now being that we're pretty well all detail guys, you'll understand that the DAR crest shown on the mug is an issue for me for the following reasons:

* Evangeline is clearly different and I like the image off the tender better.
* I prefer the serif type for the "Dominion Atlantic Railway" like the tender image.
* The upper corner scrolls are different - makes no difference to me.
* The upper scroll on the tender has a larger radius than the lower circle and I like the "shoulder" transition better between the two.

Opinions?

Hi Steve, Brian, and All,

I'm OK with whatever logo is used, the one on the sample is close to the logo applied to M-107, the 1938 Buick. If Steve has the time to reproduce the tender logo, that would be great. I'm thinking it might be best to create the logo as opposed to cleaning up the drawing as it would produce cleaner lines, I read on the website they would like graphics at 600 dpi, think that will make them huge and any rough parts of the black and white image would be magnified.

If Brian has no use for the sample cup I'd be pleased to purchase it.

You have a very good point. On top of that, the difference between the two is insignificant and we should just get going. I was definitely getting into too much detail.

Hi Steve,

All this little lines in the cape? Well, fully understand wanting to do them.

Is the indication of a time frame in order to get this out before the start of the tourist season? Has the Museum expressed any interest in the mugs?

If there is time I'm sure the tender herald would be worth the effort.

We have yet to get a good indication from the museum whether they are interested in mugs as souvenirs and and at what level they are able to particpate even though I have specifically asked.

I shall ask one one time and then we should be prepared to move unilaterally if no interest is shown.

If it turns out the Museum is not interested it would be worth the time and effort to recreate the tender herald in my opinion.

We'll see about the museum. I have sent an email just this last hour asking them.

The herald would look nice on the the DAR equipment.

I've given my son the go ahead as far as cleaning up the black on white herald image and preparing it in the proper format for printing. To get things going I am picking up the $60 fee for that. Hope you hear back soon from the museum. I am also going to talk to my son about the cost to set up the logo for embroidery which can be done on golf shirts and ballcaps or train crew (engineer) caps. These can be done quite quickly in house. Brian Lilly

I'll send you the full size Photoshop file if you want that. It's higher res than the image I put on this message by 3x.
