Hi,
The mixed ran until Oct,28 1979 I traveled on it a week before it was removed. There may have been service disruptions at times from washouts along the bay near Truro. After the coach came off the train it was not long before they went to 3 day a week service Mon.Wed.Fri. At this time the trains got as long as 40 or more cars. The straw that broke the camels back was the train left Windsor on evening in June 1982 and they hit a sun kink just past Mantua . One engine and 3 cars derailed. Service ended a week later.

Hi Andrew,
I wonder if what I'm remembering is more along the lines of the usual spring flooding problems that the DAR usually encountered, maybe the Truro Sub was submerged temporarily.

Hi,
This may have been the case. The railway for the last few years of operation used air sidedumps to drop large rocks along the edge of the bay where he Salmon River starts to widen into the bay. The track was very close to the water for about a mile.

The stock pen was still in place at Windsor in January 1990, as seen from the front of the Dayliner in the video "Farewell to the Little train in the Valley."
