Also and article in the Comical Herald:

I wonder if the sinking in 1947 had any bearing on them moving the facility to Handsport or if it's just a coincidence.

Probably just a coincidence. That kind of specialty facility takes years of engineering and construction. I wonder where the articles and photos are of it being built?

Re: Map of Gypsum Spurs
The nice thing about the Pines is it's still standing so I can go into Google Earth and measure it. The construction appears to be the same as the northwest wing of the Cornwallis Inn so that's a help. I'll have to go through and find some mid070s shots to see what's there and what's not. If I'm correct, the pool was gone by then.

The bit's of the storage facility I've seen from Deep Brook look the same as the "new" Hantsport facility and I've wondered of they didn't take the Deep Brook building apart and move it to Hantsport.

Re: Map of Gypsum Spurs
According to Joey St. Clair Patterson's book "The Gypsum Royal Fleet" (2013), the Deep Brook facility opened in the fall of 1927. The shed is described as being 500 feet long, 180 feet wide and 90 feet high. Joey' book mainly focuses on the ships and doesn't say much about railway operations. Apparently ships would be used as well as trains to take gypsum from Wentworth to Deep Brook and build up the stock pile for winter months.
I think Charles McBride's photo must refer to the firs dump after a repair or upgrade. Charles' son, Graham McBride, loans me his albums from time to time. I have scanned a few pages and put some of the images on the Wiki - but I am not as disciplined as Samuel!

No need to do anything Samuel - don't want to distract you from all that fine work with the Jenkins collection. I will continue to scan Graham's photos in bit and piecies when he loans them to me. I think I am not the only person who like to borrow and savour them. Dan
