HSW - Updates

Post by SamuelMClark »

I've been adding some images to the HSW DPI site, plus there's a new PDF document up there about a derailment.

Does anyone know if there was a place called Squirreltown? I see there's a road called that and the rail line would have passed a crossed it. Not sure if that would be it.

Now I'm pretty sure this is the Squirreltown that is familiar to Valley dwellers. It is in the account of the Blueberry Express:

You were also talking about this back in March 2016 here on the forums and that reference you had then cross-references to this so that's got to be it for sure:

Tons of great shots! Appreciate all that great work Samuel. Lots of great shots but David Othen, nice tribute to his work. Here's my favs:

http://www.hswdpi.ca/wiki/index.php?tit ... _7JY73.jpg - Great bridge shot by David

http://www.hswdpi.ca/wiki/index.php?tit ... ertime.jpg - nice Steve Patterson diesel shot in Jim Simmons Collection

http://www.hswdpi.ca/wiki/index.php?tit ... nknown.jpg - A great country shot in Jim Simmons collection, who took it?

I was curious about the Nictuax station. It looks very Windsor & Annapolis: http://www.hswdpi.ca/wiki/index.php?tit ... e_1977.jpg

That's a lot of uploading. Thank for doing that. David told me he had quite a few shots ready for the wikis. Can you write a suitable epitaph for David because it should be changed on all the wikis. We should also ask Pat if she will still sell prints (like David did) if contacted or should we take that part off?

Dan, I believe Matt thinks that's some other station, best to double check with him.

Dan those two photos you like aren't David's ;)

Steve, from my understanding ALL of David's railway stuff is doing to a museum in Ontario, Bill Linley is making copies to keep here in Nova Scotia. So might be best to remove his contact information. I'll be getting a bunch more from Bill when he's finished digitizing them, he's also aware of my services to help scan.

Definitely not Nictaux. There was a discussion on Facebook about it. The consensus was Lawrencetown.

My post was a bit confusing. I meant to refer to all the other Othen photos you added to the HSW but then gave examples from Jim Simmon's Collection. Did a quick edit to clarify. In any case, all good to see.

I was not aware of the NovaMuse database, thanks.

I have been looking for a digital image of this panorama at Windsor for some time: http://www.novamuse.ca/index.php/Detail/objects/184352

Here is another shot of the 1902 wreck at Wilmot: http://www.novamuse.ca/index.php/Detail/objects/19047
