1940s Speed Limits

Post by Paul Charland »

I was about to go through the MSTS route and reset and add speed limits, The only thing I have to go by right now is a 1951 employee's timetable that's in the wiki. It's still steam only, so that should do.

On page 2 it clearly stated the zone speed for the Halifax, Truro, Kentville, and Yarmouth subs is 40 mph and not to exceed that. This is for all freight and mixed trains and at no time does the ETT mention a speed for passenger trains.

The Halifax Sub does have a few speed restrictions in curves of 40 MPH but if that's already the maximum speed, why bother?

The Kentville Sub lists several speed restrictions of 45 mph, so now I'm really confused. If the track speed listed on page 2 is for freight and mixed, this must mean passenger trains are allowed to go faster, but nowhere in the ETT do they mention any other speeds for passenger trains. Any idea what that would be?

Paul :-)
