Lou MacIntyre of the 2016 MFMR convention is looking for someone who would be able to attend and speak about the DAR DPI...
Hi Paul;
Wow, something got lost in translation. We here in Saint John have a large model train convention coming up in May. One of the highlights of the weekend is a series of presentations on topics such as different aspects of model railroading, plus railroad history just to name a couple. We were looking for someone who was planning to attend the convention and would be willing to give a talk on the DAR Digital Preservation Initiative in general.
The funny thing is that this whole conversation started with one I had a few weeks ago with Harold Crowell. As you indicated, he is no longer involved and he apparently no longer has the MSTS data he had worked on. So I took another route by contacting Ric Hamilton who passed it on indirectly to you.
If the initiative has gone dormant, that's fine - it was just something I wanted to chase down as a possible topic that might be of interest.
Thanks
Lou McIntyre

Re: Looking for Help Near Saint John NB
I wrote Lou to ask more details about the invitation and to tell him more about the DAR DPI and the people involved.
Here was his reply:

Hi Steve;
Thanks for replying. My idea of having someone present the DAR dpi at our convention started sadly enough with an obituary in the newspaper. That obituary took me to a Flight Simulator club's website where I happened to notice Harold's name. Harold had worked on the the DAR Train Sim a few years ago and had made a presentation at our club on his efforts to that point. To make a long story short, he's no longer actively involved as you know, but that reminder made me think of the DAR initiative as a good fit for the presentations being done during our convention.
As it turns out, we have had two further presentations added to our schedule in the past day, so we have pretty well filled our quota. Thank you for your reply, and if you wish, check out what we have scheduled for our convention; I've included a link after my signature
