Not DAR but CPR

Post by stem »

Neither one of these items are DAR related but they both are CPR.

Great film sequences of the CPR Budd cars, E9 and FP7A diesels in the Rockies, from the NFB:

And check out what I saw on the way to work! Definitely worth the stop to take a few shots. Reportedly she's just been repainted as of July 13, 2013. Looking fine and showing up all over Canada so I consider myself lucky to have gotten a shot like this! Nice to see they're parading her all around for everyone to get a glimpse.

The GP-38-2 is one of two painted this way, it's used for the most part on the "Royal Canadian Express" along with a CPR Hudson and maroon passenger train. The train is used for CP executives as an inspection train but also used as a excursion through the Rockies for rich people. While not on the train(s), the 38s are pooled out of Calgary like any other freight unit... or that's what I understand!
