Don Scott's video

Post by downeastrailfan »

My copy of "The Last Years of Canadian Pacific Steam: 1956 to 1960" just arrived.

The majority of the footage is not on the DAR, but it includes the following:

2551 at Kentville in 1957. Gov. Gen. Vincent Massey special from Halifax.
1050 at Kentville.
1067 eb freight at Kentville.
6560/6561 on gypsum train at Windsor.
9059 at Windsor.
2665 on Midland mixed at Windsor.
1067 at Windsor.

This is the first footage I've seen of the S3's, so that alone was worth the purchase price. The format is mostly locomotive shots only, and for New Brunswick railfans, it features McAdam, Saint John, and the Norton-Chipman line. There are also shots on CN at Moncton.

The price is $40 and it is available from Don Scott. donald_scott at telus.net

Rats, Sold out. This is what Don had to say:

Regarding our Video "The Last Years of Canadian Pacific Steam" filmed 1956 to 1960. Nova Scotia to Calgary, Alberta all filmed by myself, but aditional add-ons 1990's by my Son David.. Operations from our home no Agents.

We have almost 40 Video's, all our own productions: CPR, BNSF,CN, BC Rail VIA< AMTRAK Etc. majori ty two hour running time.

If you desire a list I can send in parts.

We experimented with DVD, bu ran inro problems, as buyers had problems and never worked on their machines. So we stucked to VHF.

Presently we are out of stock for the "Steam Video. We will rerun a number of copies in the future, but not for now.

I have additional footage to be added to this Video all filmed between 1958 & 1960-Canadian Pacific Steamship's Atlantic Liner "Empress of France". Trans-Atlantic & Cruise Liners "Empress of Britain"(3rd), "Empress of Englsnd", Trans-Atlantic Cargo-Passenger "Beaverlodge all filmed at Saint John, N.B.,also Canadian Pacific Railway's Saint John-Digby "Princess Helene", CP BC Coast service "Princess Marguerite"(2nd), "Princess of Vancouver" (train-passenger ferry.Princess of Nanaimo"
The Nanaio ened up on the Bay of Fundy Sain John-Digby CPR/DAR connection as the "Princess of Acadia"(1st) service.

Also to be added-Canadian Pacific Airlines at Vancouver, B.C. in 1960 DC6-B Empresses, new Turbo-Prop "Britannia Empresses" and other; later
----- Original Message ----- New DC8 "Jet Empresses for International and across Canada "Canadian Empress" Service.

I will keep you in mind for CPR Steam Video-Video prices $40.00; PLus mailing $13.00(Subject to change)

Thank you,

Don Scott-Coquitlam, B.C.

Just wondering Steve, if a bunch of us pre-ordered the video if this would be incentive for Don to do another run?

That's a really good thought Brian. I wonder if we can get 10 or more people to commit. I'm sure that would encourage Don to reconsider.

If he would consent I could even put a few clips up on the front page to encourage further sales.

Any takers?
