Aww what a shame, that they couldn't have used that bridge for the walking trail to keep some of the rail history!

Re: Weymouth bridge demolition video
What happened to the entrepreneurial Nova Scotia spirit that built this railway in the first place? This quite honestly, although the body is quite cold, is sickening in it's finality.
Am I seeing things or since they shut down the railroads to western NS (The DAR and the H&SW) hasn't the economy of the western end of NS gone into a slump? Hardly 20 years after the last train and already people are speaking like this end of the province has become a backwater. The total removal of these bridges is the final nail in the coffin for the local economies. There's no way they'll ever build a railway again and there's no way the 100 series highways are going to replace it which means there's no way anyone is going to invest in the western NS economies without decent infrastructure. The railway is gone, the industries are gone and the people will go too when there's no jobs. The government didn't build the economy of the valley; the railway did. Who's going to step in now?
