KENTVILLE, June 25—Forty-five years of outstanding service with the Dominion Atlantic Railway for locomotive engineer William E. Toomey, popular and well-known Kentville citizen, was ended when for the last time he ran his engine into the Kentville roundhouse. His retirement on superannuation under C. P. R. regulations is due to ill-health.

During his long railway career, engineer Toomey was never involved in a serious mishap and his record for efficient service is a notable one.

He served under four general managers—P. Gifkins, George E. Graham, Laurie Ells and A. A. Dunphy.

He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Toomey, Windsor and two of his brothers are D. A. R. employees. They are conductor Frank Toomey, Kentville, and sectionman George Toomey, Windsor.

Mr. Toomey, who resides with his wife in Court Square, has one son, Father John Toomey of St. Patrick's Church, Halifax, and one daughter, Miss Margaret, on the staff of the Bank of Nova Scotia, Kentville.
