MARKS/LABEL: "REMOVE THIS CAP" in raised lettering on the cap is visible from the underside but only the letters "THI CAP" are visible on the other side due to a layer of concrete. The outside body of the can has remnants of a label or newspaper.
NARRATIVE: This artifact was discovered during the demolition of the Dominion Atlantic Railway Roundhouse during the first two weeks of July 2007. It was salvaged by workers of the firm of Neill & Gunter and donated to the museum.
DESCRIPTION: Can is cylindrical in shape, but body is dented on one side. Small circular hole on top for attachment of cap. Black discolourization on lower body. Remnants of a label or newspaper on body. Cap is circular in shape, flat dome, rim is turned up and pressed down. Silver in colour. Raised lettering on top with concrete.
HISTORY OF USE: This can (time capsule) contained a letter from the 5 men who poured the concrete foundation of the roundhouse. The can was encased in concrete in the middle of the foundation wall (July 30, 2007) G.K. Morse Construction/Demolition contractor "Finders of can".
