File:Louis Armstrong at Digby Wharf 70.jpg

Original file (2,141 × 1,437 pixels, file size: 469 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)
Louis Armstrong at the Digby Wharf had just arrived from Saint John on the Princess Helene in August of 1956. My Dad, Fred Joyce took this picture. I (Jim Joyce) don't know who the boy is with Louis.
From a forum post on March 15, 2011, Jim adds: "...the policeman in that picture is Gerry Connelly, who worked full time at the Wharf for the DAR doing security and directing traffic. He was a longtime friend of my grandparents, and he was still working in the mid to late 1970's after the ferry dock was moved to its current location on the Shore Road. He eventually retired, and he passed away sometime during the late 1990's."
