NARRATIVE: The Dominion Atlantic Railway was created in October 1894 by merging 2 pre-existing railways: the Windsor-Annapolis Railway and the Western Counties Railway. the DAR developed not only a high-level passenger service usually not seen on regional railways but they were also important in transforming the Annapolis Valley apples from a minor, locally consumed crop to a large export industry, increasingly popular especially in the UK. In 1911 the CPR takes over ownership of the DAR and eventually after WW2, passenger business declines and the Valley's Apple Industry collapses which eventually leads to the closure of the DAR in the 1990s.
