No. 8134 at Smiths Falls, Ontario, January 1982 viewed from the rear. The unit was on the way to be rebuilt to an SW1200RSu before being returned to the DAR.
Before its rebuild, the unit was used on the Brockville way freight as CP was testing different power on the train. They had been using an S-4 but it was a little under-powered after the Procter & Gamble factory at Smiths Falls went into production. Weeks later a new GP-38-2 was tested and proved to be too much engine. By summer they settled on an RS-23 that eventually went to the Windsor and Hantsport.
