MARKS/LABEL: Exterior markings under a clear glaze:
Green, brown, blue, gold decorations some faded condition.
Geometric band with maple leaves, branches, and wheat flowing through it. Remnants of gold decoration on remains of handle.
``CANADIAN PACIFIC`` lettering located within band near top edge.
Markings on underside of bottom:
``Reg. No. 999999`` registration number hand written in black ink on top of glaze - fragile
Makers mark is a green stamp with a Crown above a circle with `RIDGWAY SHELTON ENGLAND`` around inside edge of circle with a small circle in the centre with ``ESTD 1792`` in the middle.
NARRATIVE: This object was found in the spring of 2005 by the firm of Neill & Gunter Ltd., a Design & Consulting Engineer Co. working for the town of Kentville to clean up the former Dominion Atlantic Railway (Canadian Pacific) lands located at the western end of the Town of Kentville. It is part of a large collection of artifacts unearthed near the railway roundhouse and was donated to the museum in the fall of 2005.
DESCRIPTION: Spherical in shape, vertical foot rim, white ceramic, clear glazed with green, brown and blue markings on exterior main body. Underside bottom has makers marks of Ridgways Shelton England.
HISTORY OF USE: Original owner is Dominion Atlantic Railway (1894 to 1911). Canadian Pacific Railway was the owner after 1911. It is likely that these artifacts were part of the dining service on the train.
