Joseph Heckman was an official photographer for the Canadian Pacific Railway between 1898 and 1915, during the time when the CPR bought the Dominion Atlantic. He took an extensive series of photographs of DAR stations and bridges in September and October 1910 to assess the DAR as part of the CPR's proposed purchase of the line as a subsidiary. His original photographs are held at the Canadian Railway Historical Society. A selection were published in Heckman's Canadian Pacific: A Photographic Journey by Ralph Beaumount in 2010.
