Glenbow Western Research Centre is located on the second floor of the Taylor Family Digital Library at the heart of the University of Calgary campus. The centre is the new access point for the university’s Archives and Special Collections including the remarkable Glenbow Library and Archive, the premiere collection that documents the history of Western Canada.

This research facility serves the campus community and members of the public. Glenbow library and archive is a welcoming environment with an expert staff and a spacious reading room that allows researchers and community members to view the libraries archives.

The historic move of Glenbow Library and Archives from its previous location in downtown Calgary began in March 2019. University staff in Libraries and Cultural Resources processed thousands of books, maps, videos and films plus millions of photographs and textual records.

This world-class collection benefits scholars in a wide range of disciplines: local, regional and provincial history; social studies; cultural and social history; religious studies; geography; political science; and agriculture.
