Fieldwood Heritage Society

The Fieldwood Heritage Society was created as a society in 1989 to preserve and retell the history of Canning, Nova Scotia, and the surrounding area. The society looks after three buildings: a museum with artifacts on display, genealogical resources, Wilf Carter Room, (this is a shared building with the Canning Library); a lighthouse and a circa 1852 house. The society takes the name of the schooner Fieldwood, built at Canning in 1920, the last large vessel built in Canning.[1] Leon Barron, a community DAR historian was a longtime member.

Use of Contributed Material
