Murdy Daniel Conlin (1931-2017) was born in New Liskeard, Ontario and grew up beside the tracks of the Ontario Northland Railway where his family ran a coal business. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1956 and served as ground crew with NATO squadrons in Europe before being posted to CFB Greenwood. He fell in love with the landscape of the Annapolis Valley and took photographs for many years of farms, gardens and the Fundy Shore. His children include historian Dan Conlin.
