Billtown Station
Billtown Station
Wood Station 1914 to present
Mile 2.7 on the Weston Subdivision.
This typical North Mountain Line station was built in 1914 by J.H. Hicks and Sons of Bridgetown. It is a simple wooden one story passenger and freight station, originally 60 by 18 feet, containing a waiting room, agent's office and freight room.(1)
The station was originally located on the north Side of the tracks at Billtown, 230 feet from road facing Billtown's 1000 foot siding.(2) It was served by a travelling agent.
The station was moved to Lakeville after the North Mountain Line was abandoned where it first served as a bunkhouse for orchard workers. It was later converted to its present use as a storage shed.(3)
