Dominion Atlantic Railway Steam Locomotive No. 552.
This locomotive is a class D6d built in January of 1904 by Sashsische Maschinenbau A.G., Chemnitz, Germany (Saxon Locomotive Machine Works) and these type are often referred to as a "Saxon".
Never listed as a D.A.R. unit in any MP 14, it was never the less loaned to the D.A.R according to photos of the unit on DAR trackage. The last time the unit was listed was in the MP14 1944 (1).
Jim O'Donnell however in his roster indicates: Diereville re Membertou D6d 4-6-0 Blt. Saxon 1-04; c/n 2839. Ex. CPR 552; To DAR 5-37; scrapped 12-39.
This will take some cross referencing to resolve but may be that this unti and No. 500 have been mixed up due to the name Membertou.
