A professor at Acadia University in Wolfville, Ness is the author of two volumes of Canadian Pacific's Dominion Atlantic Railway. He is also known for his photographic work on the DAR. Ness helped preserve the Wolfville Station as a town library and donated the rare large-scale model of locmotive No. 32 "Blomidon" which can been seen at the library.
