Mr. Thomas Timmis Vernon Smith, a civil engineer of London, England, became involved in the promotion and construction of the [[Windsor and Annapolis Railway Company, Limited]]  in 1865.  Vernon Smith was the first Chief Engineer and later became General Manager of the Windsor and Annapolis Railway. His vigorous efforts were essential to the completion of the W & A.  He was replaced as General Manager by Peter Innes on April 22, 1872.

Vernon Smith 1824-1890
