Interestingly enough, this already unique unit also appears to be the first "Phase 2" unit built for the CPR and perhaps the first "Phase 2" from Budd. This conclusion was drawn from the fact that the road number numerical predecessor, [[CPR9057|No. 9057]], is also a serial number predecessor, [[CPR9057|No. 6316]] and is a "Phase 1" unit.

Dominion Atlantic Railway Budd Rail Diesel Car RDC-1 No. 9058.

Built July 1956

Budd Serial no. 6317

One of only two RDCs factory lettered for a CPR subsidiary line, No. 9059 being the second unit.

Involved in 1966 in a head on crash with a Burro crane, it was sent to Montreal for repairs and No. 9057 was sent in to replace it. Photographic evidence indicates (1) that this was before April 1966.

Currently in use by VIA Rail on E&N line on Vancouver Island as No. 6133.
