Believed to be named after a large beaver dam by the first Loyalists settlers in the 1780s, Beaver Bank was the location of construction camps and taverns in the mid 1850s during the construction of the Windsor Branch of the Nova Scotia Railway and the site of a major Protestant-Catholic riot between railway workers. The railway opened in June 1857 with a station and freight shed at Beaver Bank. It was replaced by an Intercolonial Railway style station in 1886.<ref>[https://novascotia.ca/archives/places/page.asp?ID=47 C.
