Air Base Support
The D.A.R. served two airports on it's lines, The Stanley Airport on the Truro subdivision, No. 17 Elementary Flying Training School during WWII and R.C.A.F. Base Greenwood that is still operational today.
Stanley Airport, No. 17 Elementary Flying Training School, 1941 - 1944
See article on No. 17 Elementary Flying Training School
RCAF Greenwood 1942 - 1990
The base was served by a wye and a long spur starting at Auburn and ending at the north-east end of the base where the fuel storage area still is.
Two major types of loads were handled; parts for aircraft and tank cars carring a variety of petroleum products for the base. The number of car movements per year in and out of the base were largely a function of the number of patrols and exercises scheduled for that year for the aircraft.
Personel movements where handled out of the Kingston station where R.C.A.F. vehicles would meet the trains and then drive air force personel back to the base.
