Model MLW (ALCO) S-3
The Canadian produced S-3 locomotive is nearly identical to its U.S. sister model, the S-2. The main external difference is the sharp 90 degree angle where the top of the hood meets the front on the S-3, and the rounded front of the hood on the S-2. Also, number boards are located on the front of the S-3 hood, and on the sides of the S-2 hood.
At this writing, there are no commercially offered S-3 models. Updates to the webmaster are most welcome. However, for most modelers, the S-2 is close enough.
HO Scale
Under its Proto 2000 line, Life-Like offered an S-2 decorated in the Dominion Atlantic block lettering scheme. This is a very nicely detailed model.
Atlas has produced S-2 models with various drive systems and levels of detail.
Bachmann now offers an S-2.
N Scale
Atlas has announced an N scale S-2
Arnold produced an S-2 in the early 1990's. It has an accurate appearance, but is not a good runner.
O Scale
Gilmaur produced an S-2 kit, made of brass and metal castings.
