CPR8140
Built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division as SW1200RS, Serial No. A 1740, No. 8140 in 1959. Rebuilt by CP as SW1200RSu No. 1240 in 1981.
In July 1977, 8140 returned to the DAR to replace 8134, which was sent to Montreal for overhaul.[1]
According to Gary Ness, when 8140 was on the DAR, it spent most of its time as standby power in Kentville. This explains why in-service photos of it have been slow to surface. When business began to downturn on the DAR, 8140 was one of the first units re-assigned elsewhere on the CPR system.[2]
