Dominion Atlantic Railway Locomotives

This category is to record all the locomotives observed operating on the D.A.R. It is well known that many of these units never were taken officially on strength by the D.A.R. yet the pursuit of a catalog of operating units on the D.A.R. is still a worthy effort. As more information about locomotive official ownership comes to light, this information will be added to the individual unit's history.

Article titles are therefore named DARxxxx for all steam locomotives as this is the most questionable category in regards to ownership and as many units not officially taken on strength were never the less lettered for the D.A.R. Likewise, some units exist that were taken on strength and yet remained lettered for the C.P.R.

The diesel category is easier to define however. Only the two S3's lettered and assigned to the D.A.R. have articles starting with the DAR prefix (DAR6560, DAR6561). The rest of the diesel SW1200RS units have the CPRxxxx article desgination as these units were never taken on strength as official D.A.R. units.

If you are looking for Dayliners (Budd Rail Diesel Cars), please go to the Passenger, RDC category.
