Throughout the 1940s Lawson Hill lived in Waban, a section of Newton, Massachusetts. A long time Railfan, he switched to color film in 1942 and took his camera and skills trackside to record the changing scene on the local roads - Boston & Maine, New Haven and Boston & Albany.
