Evangeline was the name of the DAR's "Dayliner" RDC passenger service. It was used to introduce the RDCs in 1958, drawing on the DAR's "Land of Evangeline" theme to provide a named train for the new RDC service.(1) The name fell out of use in the early VIA Rail era of the late 1970s but was revived in 1983 and was the official name of the Dayliner service until it was canceled in 1990.(2)
