The website for Daquin is http://www.daquinsales.com. There are hundreds of samples of promotional items to look at. Prices on cups range from $1.98 to $3.98 mostly . The prices vary depending on the number of lines of printing, the number of colours used and the size of the printing. If we come up with several options I can get quotes and then we can make a firm decision based on concensus I guess.

Weird.. tried the link but the site wasn't responding.

Hi All,

Did get onto the site last night but did not find coffee mugs in their list of things they sell.

Did have an idea though... I've been on the Fonda Johnstown and Gloversville list for years, a couple of years ago Gino thought it would be nice to get some mugs made and while trying to figure out how to do it he discovered a website called Cafe Press. The way they work is you supply the graphics, then they "apply" them to mugs, T-shirts, sweat shirts, note pads, and other items, then sell them on their website... you can see the variety of goods available for the FJ&G:

http://www.cafepress.com/FJGRR

Now, the person who opens the account gets points when someone buys something, not money, but when you get enough points you can trade them in for anything on the entire website, no money changes hands. Cafe Press only prints the graphic when someone orders something, they only stock the common items everyone on the site uses, not printing hundreds of "DAR" mugs at a time and sitting on inventory for god knows how long. They must be doing something right as they are able to keep their prices for custom printed goods down to a pretty reasonable level.

Although this would not lead to any direct money going to the Museum in Middleton, they too could order a variety of DAR items from the same place we would and tack on a couple of bucks to each one and sell them through their gift shop.

Might be worth looking into, if there are any questions I could ask Gino.

I got on to the site today. They didn't have a nice selection on-line of cups that I would like. Could there be more elsewhere? Please send a link directly to the cups you spoke of as I've been unable to get there myself! This wasn't it was it?:

As for the other site Paul, this is a very cool idea for one offs or very small quantities. This would work very well for the DARDPI web site for instance becaseu I have no desire what so ever to get into sales on a private non=profir site so this would be a way to put merchandise into people's hands that want it. Heck, I'd even order a tee-shirt and a coffee cup myself!

I shall look further into this for DARDPI and get to work with the museum to decide whether they would entertain this kind of scheme as well or go for a fund raiser.

Hi Steve,

There is a Canadian website for Cafe Press at:

http://www.cafepress.ca/

Comparing the FJ&G mugs at $12 US to the Canadian mugs starting at $17.50 there is a bit of a price increase (a $12 US mug should be about $14.40 CND), but maybe the Canadian site just takes orders, sends then to get printed in the US, then gets them back and sends them out in Canada.

Anyway, it would be a way to get a variety of items with several different DAR graphics applied at a reasonable price compared to having to buy a hundred units of one item at a time. Most items through Cafe Press can also have two different graphics printed on opposite sides for only a couple of dollors more then a singe sided item.

If you are like me, you typed in "mug" under the category list and saw maybe 5 or 6 items there. The trick is this. Go to Daquinsales.com.Click on PROMOCON.Under Product Category select "All". Inbox below that titled "Word Search", enter "mug" and in the box to the right of that, select "All' then click on Search Now box above and right of there. This will show you pages of choices. I got it but it kinda makes me shake my head why this has to be so obtuse. I did in fact do exactly as you and ended up with have a dozen unattractive (to me) and expensive mugs.

Now I see the rest. Thanks!

Can you guys see them all if I post this link now that I'm here?

I've contact the directors at the musuem asking for direction here seeing as there's so much desire to help and purchase!

Hi Steve and All,

If I'm reading the site correctly the cost per unit would be $9.27 but the minimum quantity would be just under $670 for 72 mugs... ouch.

How I cam up with this is:

$ 3.00 $216.00 "Ontario 11 oz Mug" 72 units minimum
$ 1.15 $ 82.80 Individual Boxes 72 units
$ 4.50 $324.00 Mug Personalization* 36 unit minimum

$ 45.00 $ 45.00 Set Up Fee

$667.80 Total or... $9.275 per mug

"Mug Personalization" I think is the graphics being added to your mugs, but I can't find anywhere where they define their descriptions.

$670 is a lot to put up front for an initial order. The website does say they wont guarantee the mugs to be dishwasher safe.

I searched again just for "maroon" mugs and here's the link:
http://daquinsales.promocan.com/Product ... S&SOO=-SWD

Here's what I found for the cheapest (US$ Prices)
10 oz. Maroon Titan Mug ($1.95)
Min Quantity 72 = $140.40
Mug Personalization ($4.50 ea) = #324.00
Screen Charge = $40.00

Grand Total $504.00 or $7.00 ea.

I've got one of these mugs and it's not a jumbo mug but a meduim size (the kind I like) as well as being light (which I like) so I'd go with this.

Other people like a heavy jumbo mug so I'm not sure which one we should use.

Here's what I'm not sure about. Help me out. For $4.50 am I getting both sides of the mug or just one?

Hi Steve,

I think it might be worth the time to contact them and ask, while doing my search I did find several places where they said 'add 10% for printing on both sides, but others where it didn't say (not available?).

Also, consider the "Hampton" mug at the same price, the handle on the Titan sucks... I used my ONR mug once before retiring it!

Click on AD SPECIALTY then PROMOCAN. My error. As I previously stated, my son is a graphic designer for Daquin and I think I may be able to get a better price than what you see on their website. If we can settle on what it is we want first, ie. type of cup and exactly what is to be printed on it, I can get back to everybody with a firm quote. Same for t-shirts, ballcaps etc. Another item I saw was a set of wooden coasters with gold writing and/or logo on a black background for $3.95 each (75 min.) They also come in various sets. Gold logo on black background would look great. I am not making these suggestions to drum up business for the company but only to try and get us the best deal possible. If someone can get a better deal for the same quality of merchandise I will be the first one to order. I am just trying to do my part to help support my fellow members and the museum. Just another thought. What does everyone think of a gold logo and writing on a black cup?Brian

Hi Brian,

No problem, Steve got me there!

Maybe it would be a good idea to sort out what color mug and therefore how many colors we would need the graphic to be, then have you ask your son what price that would work out to. If we use a maroon or black mug you could easily get away with just an imitation gold (ok, yellow) herald, on a white or off white mug, might want to add a maroon background to the same herald. Having the graphic on both sides might be an option, although the CM Shops mugs sold through Walthers have only one side printed.
