Re: DAR Beta 2.7
That was the ticket!
Actually, the taunpack.zip that was downloaded from train-sim.com is a fix for the tsunpack.exe in trainsim. When the downloaded file is unpacked and run, it looks for a problem in the system registry and if one is found, repairs it. So, it DOES NOT replace the tsunpack, exe file, it provides a fix if there is a problem.
Reader's Digest version - my activity for the DAR_b2.7 route is now unpacked and I can see the activity in train sim. Now for some reason i get a reading database error as well as other erors in the rolling stock which I will have to get figured out.
Anyway - thanks for the help thus far.

Hi Matt,
I hadn't thought of this, it's been a few years since I would have needed to install this, it should take care of the problem.
Have a good trip and save holiday, if you need help when you get back just ask.

Re: DAR Beta 2.7
OK - that file is a repair utility for the tsunpack.exe in train sim - that's why the difference in size. When downloaded, unzipped and run, it looks for a system Registry error and if one is present, it fixes it. There was an error in mine, it was fixed. After that, the .apk files worked and unpacked the activities.
Now, I have all kinds of problems with the rolling stock I installed and get an "unable to read the train database" error. Route_Riter shows all kinds of files missing - shape files, sound files and others. looks like a never-ending troubleshooting project to me - a person who is very new to adding addons to train sim. I don't have any problems at all troubleshooting a Flight Sim error, but man - this MSTS is something else! Very confusing (just my opinion and I'll get over it). All I want to do is have a look at the new beta and try it out, but that doesn't look promising very soon.

Re: DAR Beta 2.7
Hi Harold,
Did you install xTracks 3.20?
Did you install New Roads 4.0?
When you installed the rolling stock did you install the folder(s) that was unzipped, or the folder inside those folder(s)? Most rolling stock have a folder inside an outer folder, that's the one you need to install. If you've just unzipped the rolling stock and installed that you will get several errors per car.

Re: DAR Beta 2.7
Hi Paul
First of all, I have installed xtracks and newroads
As far as the rolling stock is concerned, as far as I can determine, I installed the folder inside of the folder for the rolling stock and these are all clearly visible in the trainsets folder. However, there were a few of the rolling stock downloads that only had files - no folders. In that case I created the folder in trainsets and placed the files there. They seem to be similar to the others appearance wise as far as folder and their location is concerned.
Your description of the possible reason for the error due to rolling stock not being unpacked and placed properly sounds quite reasonable and entirely possible. I think I will delete all of my rolling stock addons pertaining to this beta and very carefully re-install them.
Nothing is easy - huh? - especially for the unexperienced.

Re: DAR Beta 2.7
Hi Harold,
Might be quicker for you to print out the required rolling stock list and go through you Trainset folder and check to make sure the rolling stock on the list are installed correctly, then just reinstall the one(s) that were not.
If you find one that is installed incorrectly you'll have to remove the folder to outside the Trainset folder before you'll be able to copy and paste the inner folder back to the Trainset folder if it has the same name.
If you still have problems please write down the exact error message and maybe I'll be able to figure out what's going wrong.

Re: DAR Beta 2.7
Hi Paul
resolved all errors except one by removing/reinstalling the rolling stock. Remaining error is with the pchopper file and I have included screenshot of that error.
I have not made a consist using the pchopper - maybe that is the problem?
Here are the "pchopper" files I have in my trainset\pchopper folder
pchopper.jpg
pchopper.gif
pchopper.wag
pchopper.s
pchopper.sd
I do not have any files ""pchoppermt"
Another problem lies in the activities...only have train 24 activity (in addition to the explore route activity)
I was sure there should have been a train 3 activity. The explore route works, but if I click train 24, MSTS halts and takes me to the MS error reporting prompt.
Also included screenshot of my MSTS activity selection screen so you can see what I have there.

Re: DAR Beta 2.7
Hi Harold,
That's odd, I've used that car in pretty much every activity I created for the L&HR over the years and you are the first person to have a problem with it. What's even more odd is the MT wag file exists in my Trainset folder for the car but not the download. Here's the file, it appears to be the same wag file that came with the car but the weight of the car is reduced:
Can't say why the other two activities are not showing up in your menu, haven't heard anyone else having any problem loading them. May have something to do with this car as it may appear in sidings or in the Kentville yard if I remember correctly.

Re: DAR Beta 2.7
Thanks for the file Paul - Don't kow what to tell you other than thats the way it is - at least on my pc. But if anyone is going to have a first problem, you can be assured It will be me! That file seems to have cleared up the problem.
I really like the route by the way. I created an activity with a DAR Steamengine (4-6-2) and a few of the old CPR coaches/baggage cars starting from just outside of Hantsport and ends at Coldbrook. I see you have fooled Mother Nature for this time of year and have apples growing on the apple trees! very nice senery and I get a real charge out of steaming through the towns of Avonport, Wolfville, Port Williams, etc...just like in the old days.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! you have enthused me into seeing what I can do for the Yarmouth Subdivision now.... at least as far as laying down some line and getting a start on the Yar switchyard - - - very complicated - - for me!
Thanks again

Re: DAR Beta 2.7
Hi Harold,
If you go into Activity Editor you can change your activity to spring and see the apple blossoms!
The route is starting to look like something. With the holidays I haven't had much of a chance to draw but still managed to get the Wolfville station, freight house, Stirling and Kent food companies draw, plus the Farmers Dairies building started.

Hi Ric,
Just checked my download and everything appears normal. This is one of those files that you need to open and copy the inner folder of the same name to the Trainset folder in the game... could that be the problem?

Re: DAR Beta 2.7
I did do that as I had a few like that. I had a couple other errors pop up based on the 'inner folder vs no inner folder' problem. Had a couple that required another unzip to cure the problem. Is yours a capitalized CP54768 or lower case cp54768 file folder? Not sure if that makes a difference. One file in there is CP54765.(something)....and since I am not familiar to the car repaints etc is that normal?
I am eager with anticipation on trying this Paul. I imagine it is fantastic. I'm not a DAR modeller (yeah I know shame on me) but with this and the pictures that Matt uploaded last week I have to restrain myself from selling all my modern CN equipment.

Re: DAR Beta 2.7
Hi Ric.
Yes, it looks like the original folder uses lower case "cp" and the one in my Trainset folder uses "CP", that might be making the difference on you system. Been using this file for years and hadn't had a problem reported, maybe it's a difference in something on your computer. Easy enough to fix, rename the folder in your trainset folder to capitals and that should clear up the problem. Actually you could make a copy of the cp car and rename it CP... that way it would not interfere with other activities that may call for the cp car. Eventually all these 40' boxcars will be replaced with a set Steve is working on (or will be creating).
Nice thing about MSTS is you don't need a big basement to build a layout in... just some space on a hard drive, so... you can still model modern CN and have a DAR route to play with on your computer.

Re: DAR Beta 2.7
Well, here is my screen shot. Does this differ from anyone else's files in names or sizes. I deleted the unzipped folder, and the zip file and started new. Named the folder both ways. Am I missing anything?
