Never having added seriously edited an MSTS route I have to ask now that you reached this point a question.

I've seen turntables on other MSTS layouts apparently "countersunk" into the ground. Can you create grounds as a separate entitity for the hotel and then "countersink" them into the existing landscape? The reason I ask is that my Mom remembers that the grounds were quite beautiful as well including the awesome brick fence around the perimeter that is now gone at least in the front. I don't know if there are any remnants of the fence anywhere else on the property but you get the drift of what I'm asking.

Hi Steve,

Turned out to be 360 x 150 feet, pretty impressive size for sure. At six stories I'd have to think this is second only to Acadia's Crowell Tower for height in the entire Valley. Turned out to be a nice model, even with the two modern additions from the late '60s. Found the DAR built this in 1930, CP bought it a year later. The "Inn" really isn't any more, has been converted to 31 apartments and is currently up for sale for a cool $3.9 million if you have any loose change.

Well that didn't really answer my question but at the same time, maybe we want to talk about picking this up at half the price and turning the apartments into condos. Then we could finance our hobbies quite nicely.

Hi Steve,

Last one with the question hadn't shown up at my end when I posted the reply to the one before that!

If you ope any route in Route Editor you can change the terrain to wire mode by hitting the "w" key. You will see the terrain is made up of a series of triangles. If you hit F9 a ring will appear, normally you would use this ring to change the elevation of the intersection at one of these triangles by using the up and down arrow keys. You can also turn off the triangles by tapping the "v" key. When you need to place something like a turntable pit into the terrain, you turn the area to pit will occupy off this way. You can then use a transfer made up of a piece of terrain to fill in between the last working terrain triangle and the outer edge of the pit. Just so you know, turntables in MSTS do not work.

The front of the Cornwallis Inn was not the same as it appears in my version. In your time the lower field stone level was half buried with only "basement" windows along the front. The deck as it appears in my version, was actually the main entrance with stairs coming down about four feet to ground level where there is a part of the deck sticking out. There was a driveway that curved around the front of the building, looked very nice. I'll add all this including the driveway and terrain when I backdate your model.

I see the fence in a 1907 postcard, I'm sure we can do something with that.

I'll have to try that on MSTS and learn something new. Thanks for the explanation and thanks for the hooks to backdate it.
