I just received an email from Mrs. Hanes and she would like everyone to know that her daughter Hollie will be speaking on the DAR at the Scott Manorhouse in Bedford on October 24th at 7:00 for the historical society meeting.
Hollie has been interviewing and meeting with DAR employees and enthusiasts for over 4 years and has accumulated some interesting and rare information on the railway. It would certainly be well worth the time to come out and see what she has put together. I'm sure the presentation will be very interesting.

Any chance someone could record a video of this event? With Hollie's permission of course.

Re: DAR Presentation Oct 24
If anyone would like to video it feel free Holly is presenting the three heritage fair projects and one science fair project on the Midland Line of the DAR. Her initial project was focused on the start of the Midland and was a skit where she became Margaret Putnam a shareholder's wife and related the early facts of the line, Betty O'Toole a local schoolteacher where she related a child's view of the line, local stories and the end of the line and herself where she talked about the impact of the railway and some artifacts. (On her board was a list of stops because she focused a lot on the stations and a timeline) Her second project focused on the trains and trying to determine more about the cars as well as locating information she was missing. (This project board is visually appealing and has a did you know section) Her third project was a video it included a poem she found, one she wrote and interviews with employees, locals and railway enthusiasts. (The purpose of this project was to make it more appealling to a wider audience and she included a clay model of South Maitland.) If anyone has questions please let us know... Heather Hanes her talk is listed on the Scott Manor House website.
