Steam Engine Photoshare
http://photoshare.shaw.ca/view/47254786 ... 891-19671/
The link above are some photos that I have scanned from some negatives that a friend of mine has allowed me to work with. I will leave them up for as long as possible, should anyone want copies they are hi-res scans so just send me an email and I can drop a disc in the mail.
I will try to upload some of the train orders that I have scanned as well as the timetables over the next little while. Again, if anyone has any questions, please let me know.

Hi Rob,
Welcome aboard. I hope you find the DAR fun to model. I find it a colourful railway to model, close enought to the big old CPR to get good rolling stock stuff but individual enought for character. Now if I could only stop detailing DAR cars and locomotives I might finally finish my layout ... I tired the link to the Shaw photoshare but it didn't seem to work at least on my computer.

Dan, did you try to cut and past the link into your browser? There is no protecton on the account. Let me know and I can make a disc for you if you like and send it off. I have some other information that I could include and will post over the weekend.

Yes. I pasted the link onto my browser but the Shaw site came up with a message that said:
Message Not Found
Sorry, but the message you are looking for was not found. Check the url and try again.
I don't want to trouble you to mail a CD unecessarily but if it is no trouble I am at: 6310 Duncan Street, Halifax, NS B3L 1K3
By the way, if you are in Ottawa, try to make an appointment to have a look at the Canada Museum of the Science and Technology train photo collection on some day off. They have hundreds and hundreds of DAR photos indexed by locomotive and car number.
Their scan fees are pretty stiff unfortunately but it is a pleasure just going though the prints.

Re: Steam Engine Photoshare
It is not a problem Dan...sometimes it is a little easier. I will check to see if members of the Bytown Railway Society get special rates for scanning. I didn't realize that they had such an archives there. We meet there twice a month for slide presentations and they have work crews on the weekend to fix up old trains. I will also check the archives here as there is a large collection of photos etc. So will have to check it out to see if they have anything from DAR.
Well let you know.

Glad you're onboard Rob and I enjoyed seeing our photos. The link worked just fine for me.
I am going to try and get some stuff posted soon but some of the maps I have are rather large in size so scanning will be a problem. I'll also be posting some DAR schedules hat I have recently acquired. Brian in Ottawa.

Hi Bob,
Nice collection of prints you have there.
The shot of 144 is at Norton NB. It is one of the famous three 4-4-0's used on the Norton-Chipman branch until 1959 or 1960. The other two locos were 136 (now at South Simcoe) and 29 (in front of CP headquarters). 144 is at Delson.

Re: Steam Engine Photoshare
I've got one more for you. Concerning the shot of No. 1015, this is certainly not questionable what loco it is, but there's no indication of location on this photo and I can find no record or hint that 1015 ever served on the DAR.
Is it possible to identify where/when this photo was taken? If not, then I shall not create a new record for this loco on the wiki just yet.

On page 349, Canadian Pacific Steam Locomotives, Lavallee lists "CPR locomotives loaned or leased to DAR which may have carried DAR identification incorrectly. Class D10H 1015, 1038, 1050, 1101"

Re: Steam Engine Photoshare
OK. Done deal. Out of the 4 you said that Lavalle listed, only 1015 was missing from our list. Page created for No. 1015 and photo uploaded. One more that wasn't here before! That now brings the Wiki up to 63 steam locomotives that ran on the D.A.R. and we know there's more...

Wow, what a pleasure it is to see these new photos appearing. I love that line of apple boxcars in Halifax from Andrew Blackburn's collection. It appeared just as am kitbashing an old MDC/Roundhouse wooden boxcar into a DAR 1300 boxcar.
