Do you have a slide scanner Matt? I have one I bought years ago that the software only runs on XP but I get up to 2400 DPI and 24 bits colour out of it. It's an HP Photosmart S20. They were not very expensive to start with and are still available used:

Software can still be downloaded here:

If you are Vista or Windows 7 you can run a Virtual PC with XP on your Vista/W7 machine and still use it I believe.

Hi Steve,

I have a Canon LIDE 35 flatbed scanner. Unfortunately, it does not have a slide attachment.

Well then if you want a value priced scanner that works well, consider buying the HP I gave you a link to on eBay.

I've got an XP machine with the software installed but I'll also try to install ot on my Windows 7 machine to see how it works there and let you know.

You never said what OS you've got so I'll assume it's Vista.
