Hi Steve:
I would like to order a mug for the $50.00 donation.
I am a new member, although I have been looking at the site for quite some time. I've really been enjoying it, and wanted to pass along my congratulations for the great job that you have been doing.
I'll keep an eye out for instructions on sending in the donation.

Re: DAR merchandise
Just catching up with this thread again myself after a crazy week.
Thanks Dan and welcome and thanks Jim Joyce.
There wil be mugs enough for all!
Brian: Just where are we on the production and when does this need to be paid for? I have an idea and that is to use the PayPal I set up on the museum site to accept the donations that everyone would like to make for the the cups. Once everyone has chipped in then the museum can cut a cheque. Paying the museum in this way insures that everyone who want a tax receipt will get one next year at tax time. Then the balance of the cups are theirs to attract more donations with and to sell locally in the shop. I guess we need to talk about how many we will order too. The poll indicates that 14 people plus two more that didn't get in on the vote makes 16 want cups. This of course isn't all I'm sure but this is a good base. Going by what we have, the museum will price these at $15. So 5 people x 15 is $75 plus 8 at $25 is $200 plus the previous is $275 and now we have 3 at $50 which adds another $150 to the previous bringing it up to $425 in funds pledged right now.
Would it be correct to say these are still our costs?
10 oz. Maroon Titan Mug ($1.95)
Min Quantity 72 = $140.40
Mug Personalization ($4.50 ea) = #324.00
Screen Charge = $40.00
Grand Total $504.00 or $7.00 ea.
How goes it from your end? Are you still intending on delivering these?
Thanks Dan and welcome and thanks Jim Joyce.

Re: DAR merchandise
As I said on my Sunday, May 31st posting, I should have the quote sometime this week.
I am as anxious as anybody to get the ball rolling so bare with me for another day or two.Brian

Re: DAR merchandise
Mugs are (cost) $4.36 each x 72ea = $313.92 plus $60.00 artwork charge plus $50.00 setup fee = $423.92 plus taxes (pst & gst) = $479.03 or $6.65 per cup. The mugs have been ordered. Delivery is expected in about 2 weeks so lets get those donations going. I do wonder how the museum is going to identify those of us donating from this site in order for them to total the amount designated towards the purchase of the mugs? Brian

Re: DAR merchandise
Do they sell mailer boxes for coffee cups too? We should have 25 at least.. probably 50 if they're cheap.

If they do, can you get one, put a cup in it and find out what it's going to cost to mail single cups out?

Re: DAR merchandise
Once you get the PayPal thing set up, can you start a new thread? I'll be spending extra on the mug, as a donation.
(I might send my dad to the museum to pick up the mug, though. We used to go to Middleton when I was a kid to get parts for our milk machine, from the DeLaval dealer.)

Re: DAR merchandise
Before I lay out how were all going to do this to get our tax receipts I need the shipping info from Brian that he was kind enough to offer to do on top of everything else!
After that I'll simply have one more message to instruct everyone how to do the PayPal donation to make sure the price is right and the museum has all the info they need.
I'm not sure I want to start a new thread because even though this is a large one, it's easy to find everything on the subject.

Re: DAR merchandise
Point 1:
Because we need to get this going we're going to take a shot at the shipping and to make sure it's covered the museum folks want to add $5.00 shipping and handling to each cup to mail the cup out in Canada. If you are in the United States then we will require $10.00 for the additional postage on each cup. Once we get underway we may be able to reduce this but for the first wave we want to make sure our costs are covered.
Point 2:
If you are making a $25 donation or higher, the museum will issue a tax receipt.
Instructions:
To make your payment or donation and receive your cup please click on the "Donate" item on the top menu or click here:
http://www.memorylanerailwaymuseum.org/ ... p?q=node/8
Our poll indicated some want to pay just the retail price and others were going to make a $25.00 or $50.00 donation so calculate your donation amount like this:
How many cups you you want?
Retail price is $15.00 ea
OR Each individual donation of $25.00 or more receives 1 cup on this promotion.
Add $5.00 for each cup to be mailed out.
Enter the total amount (ie: $50 + $5 = $ 55) in the "Donation Amount", then click on "Update Total".
At this point you will be asked to log in if you haven't already, or you may choose just to use your credit card as a one time payment.
Once you arrive at the page that asks you to "Review Your Donation", click on the "Add special instructions to the seller" link and indicate to the museum:
PURCHASE, DONATION: $15 - $25, $50, $100
SHIPPING: HOLD FOR PICKUP, MAIL
NAME:
STREET ADDRESS:
CITY AND PROV and POSTAL CODE
(MAIL is Canada Post only, HOLD FOR PICKUP is you come to the museum to get it.
Full name and address is for shipping and/or tax receipt purposes.)
To make this promotion work we need get our $$ to Brian by June 14th so we can pay for this before Brian comes down so he can bring these and save us the cost of shipping. That's just 1 week from today. Thanks for your attention to this.
If you have any further question, feel free to post!
The big thanks:
Thanks to all for working together on our first charitable group project and making this happen for the museum. We should all feel very proud of ourselves that despite the physical distances and circumstances that occupy and separate us, that we have done something that will indeed help the museum out this year. Even more importantly, our moral support of the museum has already been felt and given them the lift they need to keep fighting for their very survival this year.

Steve,
Can I leave my my donation/cup purchase at the Museum when I visit on Wednesday, or will that mess up you need for cash at your end to actually buy cups from the supplier?

Re: DAR merchandise
Update on my trip. I should be leaving Ottawa on Saturday, June 27 th. Figure two days travel to Nova Scotia. I am planning to start in Turo and work my way down to Digby or Digby to Truro. It sort of depends on the weather. I would love to meet some of the group as I travel so if you would like to meet along the way, just e-mail me your address and I will make a concerted effort to hook up with you during my travels. Maybe I,ll start in Brockville

Fred:
If you pay for it now and indicate that it should be held for pickup that would be much appreciated because we need the funds pretty well right away. Brain may not be leaving until the 27th but the cups will be ready to be picked up in just one more week and need to be paid for.

Re: DAR merchandise
Hi Steve,
When I go to the web page and click on the "Donate" button I get this error message:
https://www.paypal.com/ca/cgi-bin/websc ... 3f4977abcf
When I go to the same web page and try the "Donate" link to the left in the menu I see nothing that would make me think there is a cup available. I also do not see a "Donate" button along the top of the page... what am I missing?
