OK. I emailed you my photoshop file for the herald for you to pass on to your son. I hope it helps.

In the meantime, I would like to know how many would just like to purchase the merchandise for the price that we'll decide on and how many were thinking that they'd like to finance this and receive charitable donation receipts that you can use next year to claim on your income tax?

For the charitable donation, I was thinking that if everyone who said they'd buy a cup paid $50 a cup, we'd have the whole thing covered so that the museum had to pay nothing at all, just receive the profits, but let your heart decide what's right for you; this was only a suggestion.

If you want to do the charitable donation, you can reply here or send me a private message by just clicking on the red private message icon in the left panel of this message (the "envelope").

That kind of killed things.

I made a poll to gather your opinions. Could you please take the time to answer it? It's totally anonymous but really important for myself to know what our next step needs to be to make this happen.

Thank you.

Go here to answer the poll but keep the thread alive HERE. Don't post over there:

Vote early and vote often!

Just wondering Steve,

Is there a final price for the mugs yet or is the $550 still a ballpark figure? There are things to consider like adding $1.15 per box... for each cup. If the Museum's logo, address, or e-mail address is to be printed on the other side of the cup there may be an additional charge for that. Might be an idea to have www.dardpi.ca below the DAR logo as well, that might exceed add to the cost per mug as well.

Paul :-)

Hello out there in cyberspace. I am but one voice being heard on this posting. Where is everybody? Steve and I are doing our best to make this project work and as Steve says, "it will work", but we need all the help and input we can get. Please, if you know other members who maybe haven't peeked at the site in a while, give them a shout and let them know what's going on. Please participate in the poll as soon as possible. If we can get our ducks in a row soon enough, I can hand deliver our "less than car load" freight to the museum in person. Brian Lilly in Ottawa.

Brian:

Just so you know, like Paul said, we do want the musuem's particulars on the back side of the cup.

Paul:

I think I'll skip putting this site's address on as it's pretty easy to navigate to here once you're there. The final price should be $500 to $600.. somewhere in there. I didn't know about Brian hand delivering the mugs. Now that is nothing short of an awesome offer and will kncok off a serious amount of shipping we would have had to otherwise pay on top of the price of the mugs to get them there. Knowing that makes this even more important to wrap this up in time for Brian to be able to deliver them when he travels.

Just so you know some other people care, I've been watching this conversation but since I don't have anything useful to contribute, I just let it be. I have enough of my own projects to deal with! ;-)

(Finally figured out the Login process Steve.) It looks like the cups will cost about $4 each plus the $60 art fee and the $50 print fee plus taxes. For the minimum 72 mugs that comes out to around $453.72 or about $6.30 per cup. That would be for the same cup I posted as a sample. I am not sure if it will cost a little more for the printing on the other side. I have sent that information to my son yesterday but I haven't got a reply back yet. We may get a break on this price but this should be close enough to give everybody an idea of what we're looking at here. Brian

Mike,

Thanks for your reply and everyone realizes that everyone is not going to get involved in everything that happens here. I think this entire community so far has grown and accomplished much BECAUSE everyone here cares in the first place. And for anyone who would argue this isn't a community; think again! We've grown to know each other and respect each other and one day we may even meet each other face to face but most of all, we've worked with one another and arrived at this point when many told me this was a project that no one would be interested in.

I hate to speak for others because often I have to correct myself after but I imagine that Mike was just expressing some frustration that there was not a lot of response. In fairness to all, it's often not that easy to find topics on the forum that you haven't actually responded to and still some folks don't realize that the message can email you updates as other people respond to a message thread. Once I mass emailed everyone on this topic I'm fairly satified by the number of views and the number of reponses that came in to the poll even in just the first day that we in fact will have a pretty good response to our first attempt at a fundraiser.

As I write we have this evening 4 at the regular price, 7 at $25 a cup (wow!!) and one at $50 a cup. That's 12 people so far and to be honest we really don't have that many more people who visit on a regular basis. We may see another 4 to 6 by the end and that will probably be it.

So not bad so far and we'll await the final count!

Right on Steve, as you say, not everyone checks in on a regular basis so I think the response has been phenominal. I don't want to get ahead of things here, but I was wondering what people would think of doing a second cup run with a gold herald on a black cup? This really appeals to me personally. It would also be cheaper as the artwork would already be done. Brian

Calling everyone! Does anyone have a high resolution image of the emblem? 72dpi is just not cutting it for the redraw to vector graphics needed for the artwork. Any help is appreciated. The big problem is with the eyes.Brian

Here's the updated artwork posted at http://www.tgraphics.ca/Mug.pdf. Check it out. Set the pdf. viewer at 100% for size and that should approximate the actual mug. This is just a virtual sample, not a photo of the final product. Brian

Hi there folks. I have been busy with writing projects work lately and missed this thread and the poll but I'd put up $50 for a mug as a contribution to Memory Lane.

Cheers,

Thanks a heap Dan. As soon as I get the final quote on the mugs I'll post it. Hoping for this week. Is everybody OK with the style of mug I posted? Now I guess the next question is, how do we get the money to me to pay for them. I have a PayPal account. Would deposits to that account be the easiest way or have all donations made by cheque and mailed to me be best? Brian
