Not enough space for the whole line would be my conundrum too. Dan came up with a great solution by modelling just the CVR portion.

Myself, I would favour Kentville to Windsor with a Mantua leg in HO to limit the real estate but retaining the busiest section of the D.A.R. for good running. It gives you great industry and a good size yard at both ends. Plus you can share a loop at both ends as both Kentville and Windsor have 2 subs outgoing.

However I would prefer the old Windsor with the bridge across the Avon and running through town. Good for diesels and steam and lots of passenger service and gypsum runs. That would still take a fair chunk but I figure a compressed version is do-able in HO in a 12 x 16 space if you limit freight to 40' and passenger car length to 50' max.

Otherwise it would be N scale. The only problem I have with N is that it just doesn't photograph as well as the larger scales and selection, while being such much better than years ago, is still limited compared to HO. And although not impossible, it's a lot tougher to scratch-build that small.

I made a little DAR L shaped switching layout a while back... just an 8 x 4 1/2 footer. My P2K RDC had no trouble negotiating the 18" curve, it was my nice Intermountain covered hoppers that couldn't without the wheels scraping the stirrup steps.

I don't have that problem with V scale!
